Our Models

Each model represent a class of locomotives or rolling stock, at the price they are produced, we cannot economically represent an individual loco. For the modeller seeking this level of detail we produce a sandblasted, brass finish, version as a base canvas for your individual detailing and further painting.

Our models are hand assembled using the best materials available; we do not use white metal castings and incorporate.

  • all brass construction
  • sprung axles, screw couplings and buffers
  • where possible, we put in stainless steel bearings in all axles
  • operating smoke box doors, cab doors, filler cap, etc
  • full detailed cab interior and chassis features
  • rivets are hand punched plus extra refinements like correctly detailed boiler band clamps

We do not copy other manufacturers products or kits, each model is produced from original works drawings, where available, our own photographs of preserved locomotives and liaison with preservation societies for individual classes. We also preview our models at shows and on this site and encourage input by those more knowledgeable than ourselves. However, we are fully aware that individual works varied from the working drawings at that we will never cover all idiosyncrasies within individual classes never mind locomotives. Our objective is to produce a model that represents a class at a price which is value for money.

Each new model currently includes improvements over the previous model in terms of detail and operation. Our latest locomotives incorporate a multi-stage 1:25 helical gearbox, with easy to remove wheels with stainless tyres, fitted on square end axles.

Our lining and details service comprises.
